In 2018, New York State enacted a requirement that all employers, including Buffalo State College, ensure that their employees complete sexual harassment prevention training by October 9, 2020.
The Office for Equity and Campus Diversity is offering the following options for completing the training: Sexual Harassment Training Videos (2), that can be located through Blackboard Learn, and in-person sessions for those employees who do not have access to Blackboard (i.e., Facilities Office).
The following training meets all New York State requirements for sexual harassment prevention training. This training is available through Blackboard Learn and is comprised of two sections:
1. The Sexual Harassment Training Part 1 Video explains the definition of sexual harassment, and examples of harassing conduct.
2. The Sexual Harassment Training Part 2 video is interactive and features quizzes within the video on case studies.
3.) After completion of the Part 2 video, read the Buffalo State Policy and Procedures on Sexual Harassment and mark "reviewed" to acknowledge that you have read and understand the policy.
Employees can take the online training in their office or wherever they have access to Blackboard, at a time that is convenient for them. The training takes between fourty-five minutes to an hour to complete.
Buffalo State is offering the online harassment prevention training through Blackboard Learn. The videos are located under the "My Organization" section titled, "New York State Sexual Harassment Prevention Training." Completing the training videos complies the obligation to provide the sexual harassment training and your requirement as a New York State employee to receive and complete sexual harassment prevention training.
